La Bufadora, Ensenada: The Gem of Baja
The gem of the Baja California North region, La Bufadora, Ensenada is a natural wonder of Mexico tucked away in the hills south of downtown. Located about 17 miles south of Ensenada, at the tip of the Punta Banda peninsula (depending on where you launch from,) La Bufadora is a popular ocean-side attraction that shoots ocean water 100 feet upward into the air as pockets of air get trapped and forced into the sea cave below.
La Bufadora is one of the largest marine geysers in the world, second only to the beautiful Makapuu Point in Oahu, Hawaii.
When you arrive to La Bufadora Ensenada
Before you arrive at the cliffs to view the spectacle, you will need to park in the dirt parking lots for a small fee (50 pesos) and take a colorful stroll through one of the liveliest strips of vendors and restaurants in all of Baja California, each serving up some of the freshest seafood around. Here you can also find hand-made goods from all around Mexico, at a much smaller cost than downtown Ensenada.
